Five years ago, our lives were forever changed in a blink of an eye. The impact of the accident was so fast that I didn’t realize what had happened. Ironically, what happened so fast, was followed by what felt like an eternity. It was the start of a nightmare that would never end.
To say that everything happens for a reason is BS. There is absolutely no reason why my five-year-old son died suddenly and my daughter got a permanent brain injury. Anyone who think that there’s a reason for the loss of a child or the injury/sickness of a child is simply heartless.
There are so many things I would love to share on this blog. However, for numerous reasons, I am not able to post often. If I choose to write today, it is to remember and commemorate Zackaël.
To celebrate Zackaël’s life, I’ve written 10 things I loved about Zackaël.
10 Things I Love about You
1. Zackaël, you were a very funny and silly little boy.

2. Zackaël, you were sweet, caring, and always wanted to make us happy.

3. Zackaël, you were a great listener, you didn’t talk too much and liked to observe.

4. Zackaël, you had the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen. You had dark long eyelashes, which are hard to see in photos. And when you had a big smile, you had the cutest squinty eyes.

5. Zackaël, as you became a big boy, you would never get upset. You would never complain and were very brave.
Video taken just before you got your tooth removed (you were only 3.5 years-old) You never complained once!

6. Zackaël, you were so athletic and active.

You were the first to learn to bike without training wheels in your group at bike camp, this was after only 3 hours!
At 4 years-old, you skated so fast already (on the Rideau Canal)!
7. Zackaël, you were your brother’s best friend, your sister’s protector and joyful brother, and a perfect son for us.

8. Zackaël, you had excellent visual memory. You always impressed me with visual games (like this one below) and you would remember things like the color of a shirt someone wore.

9. Zackaël, you would always jump and do headstands. I wanted to sign you up for gymnastics.

10. Zackaël, you were very popular and had many friends. You even had a friend who left you a message on this blog this month, on your page. It is so touching to read.

That’s it for now!
