Raising awareness of perinatal bereavement and child loss

On this day of awareness of perinatal bereavement, I would like to offer a reflection to think about all those who have lost a baby. Whether it is a loss during pregnancy or shortly after birth, we need to break the silence associated with perinatal grief. In this regard, I suggest this excellent interview (French) which includes the testimony of my cousin Sophie who lost her 2-month-old daughter.

Earlier this week, I was interviewed by TVA. The interview took quite long, lasting over an hour. From this, TVA was able to create an excellent montage with the limited air time they had, about 2 and a half minutes! Thanks to Marie-Christine Villeneuve from TVA who contacted me earlier this summer to ask for an interview. Regardless of the person’s situation, it is important to talk about mental health, which includes grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma. The interview is in French but includes photos.

That’s it for now!

You have become an advocate for support for grieving, especially the loss of a child. Well done Brigitte! Every photo you shared was a part of the journey you and your family have gone through and are still going through. Very emotional, heartbreaking and uplifting when you see Adelie’s wonderful smile and your family pictures. Thanks once again for continuing to share your thoughts, research and journey on mental health and grieving.

Thank you Veronica for your warmhearted message! I appreciate everything you said in your message, from our family pictures and moments, to the face that I like to bring up some research in my post. I can’t wait to be able to continue working on Adélie’s slideshow too!
