It is with excitement that I share today the slideshow I created which highlights Adélie’s long hard-fought journey to recovery! It covers the period from the accident (Nov. 2019) until the summer of 2020. In the slideshow, we see Adélie’s greatest triumphs, beautiful moments of achievement captured in photos and videos.
Some of the most difficult moments are not included. I obviously don’t have pictures of her throwing up (which could happen several times a day), her infections, procedures, surgeries, etc. The slideshow doesn’t capture the pain and uncertainty we had watching her endure all of this.
You also can’t see the broken hearts we had following Zackaël’s death. I wish I would have been able to fully enjoy Adélie’s great victories, but at the time, it was difficult for me to feel joy. Some know the expression “feeling dead inside”, I will speak about it another time.
Despite our grief and difficult times, I am proud to be able to share her journey in a slideshow. Adélie loves the slideshow, and we can appreciate these beautiful moments together! She likes asking me to play it, looks at it attentively and even dances to the rhythm of the music. Bravo Adélie, our little warrior!
Thank you for adding comments below and sharing this post. We will keep comments for Adélie to read as she gets older (and for Maxandre who is always very proud of her). Perhaps the slideshow can also serve as a source of hope during these difficult pandemic times. We recommend to watch it with the sound on and allow about 15 minutes to view it in its entirety.
The slideshow is available in 2 versions (both also available in French). The full version includes some photos that were taken shortly after the accident (sensitive content), including some details about her brain injury. The short version, more suitable for children, excludes the photos from the early days.
